My last solo show ended this October the 19th 2007, here in Mexico City.
I can tell you that my paintings are full of energy, movement, color but above all are full of love.
The statement of my last show was written by Mary Stoppert a well known artist and art expert.
This words are:
"In this Post-modern era, the visual artist has license to explore any and all means for the goal of self-expression. While many artists have chosen to have their work follow or reflect the most current trends, Aida Emart avoids the lure of "art fashion" in order to explore her own narratives in her own unique style.
The beautiful art of Aida Emart skillfully draws us into her private world of figurative landscapes and implied narratives that evoke distant times and places. Emart's art has many moods and there is often an aspect of duality. The viewer might encounter one of her voluptuous women, posed and poised at the same time. These women seem to be either waiting and anticipating or passively lost in the narrative, often with an animal accomplice.
As in her popular women series, her children / angels paintings also seem to create a story from a previous era evidenced in the costumes and rural setting. These charming works capture the juvenile penchant for fun and play.
Emart changes her mood when she works in a more abstract mode. In her painted, collaged pieces there are echoes of her other themes and series. These pieces however, exude a different kind of energy. The figures reside in a more visually active space, and they are no longer passive. Emart working in this style is still able to bring the mysterious and enigmatic qualities of her other series to these works.
Aida Emart continues to evolve as a wonderful artist / painter. She feels the media in which she works, whether drawing or painting, as strongly as her love for her subject matter. She uses strong color, rich texture and bold lines to create drama within each work. Emart makes a very personal connection to each piece and she seems to be the one in the picture, looking back at us."
